About the artist
Joseph Reindler is a maritime artist and serving officer in the Royal Navy. His historical oil paintings depict subjects ranging from wartime shipping scenes, to merchant sail, fighting sail, harbour scenes and coastal landscapes. His work has been published and/or featured by Drachinifel, the author J. Asmussen, K.Bismarck.com, Navsource.org, Navy Wings, the Royal Australian Navy, Tom’s ModelWorks Limited, and the United States Naval Institute. Holding a degree in mechanical engineering, and associate membership with the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, Joseph was also elected a signature member of the Pacific Rim Institution of Maritime Artists (PRIMA) in May 2018, then living in New Zealand. Following relocation with his wife back to the United Kingdom in 2022 Joseph returned to active service with the Royal Navy in 2023 as a Marine Engineering Branch Officer. He has since been to sea in both new aircraft carriers HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH (R08) and HMS PRINCE OF WALES (R09). He is also a Richmond Fellow of the Royal Naval Strategic Studies Centre (RNSSC) and was a contributing author to the First Sea Lord Admiral Sir Ben Key's recent Sea Power Series title Maritime Britain in the Twenty-First Century.
